BIG DAY! Today marks one month on this diet. (You can recommend I call it something more politically correct, whatever, it's a diet.) And since last Sat. (that's my weigh-in day) I've lost 5 lbs. that brings my loss to 18 lbs. for the first month. Of course I'm very happy, I've never lost 18 lbs. in a month.
The pictures, the left one was taken Jan. 2nd, the right one was taken Jan. 14th.
Biggest epiphany is that I am FINALLY over the being hungry all the time and this is definitely easier now than it has been. AND, all the crappy food doesn't appeal to me nearly as much anymore. It's occurred to me in the last couple of days that skinny people are skinny because they don't eat bad/crappy food as a general rule. They make better choices. I know I make that seem like it's rocket science and I know it isn't rocket science but it FEELS like rocket science.
Today I'm in Anaheim for a music show. Planned ahead, brought shakes, bars, and some almonds. And of course, my water bottle. So far, so good.

ReplyDeleteI want you to think about something. I know you don't like to cook...don't want to learn. I don't like to cook either, but I needed to eat.
That relationship with cooking is really the same thing, but a different view of the relationship with food. No cooking? You can't be accountable for what goes in your mouth. Right? Don't know how the food is made? Not responsible for that junk in it.
I think touching food. Making decisions on what food is in the house, in your van, etc. is a real part of a conscious thinking about food and health. It's an integration of food and life. Just think about it.
And stop beating yourself up with why some people are skinny. I think it's way, way, in the genes. My parents were small people. Never in their life did they have a weight problem. They were NOT active. Yes, they ate small portions and didn't constantly pig out on chips and candy, but my mother never saw a fast food place she didn't love. Three main food groups? KFC, McDonalds and Burger King.
They also didn't have a negative relationship with food. You ate. Simple.
